Ulinzi Stars Vs APR Rwanda Today 4pm
My prediction: Ulinzi 2–1 APR
Even though I am keeping an eye on the Under 17 football World Cup and catching a few minutes of some matches in the women’s World Cup, there is only one match worth discussing this weekend. And that is the Cecafa Kagame Club Championship last Group “A” match pitting Kenyan Premier League champions Ulinzi Stars and defending champions APR of Rwanda.
Ulinzi have been having a decent run drawing one-all with Ethiopian league champions St. George’s and then went demolishing Ports FC of Djibouti 9–0 with Vincent Onyango getting his name on the score sheet four times.
St. George’s went on to beat APR 3–1 in the other group game. So, if football was about mathematics, Ulinzi could just top the group. But it isn’t maths and APR is no walk over.
I still remember them beating Gor Mahia 5-0 (or was it 5–1? –doesn’t matter, it was a thrashing!) right here at the Nyayo Stadium just over two years ago. Former Harambee Stars coach Jacob Ghost Mulee used to coach APR and he told me on Simba Super Soccer this week that they beat Ulinzi when he was in charge. But he did concede that this isn’t the same Ulinzi side that they played about five years ago. Ulinzi are stronger and a lot more confident. And they will certainly be boosted by the nine goals they put past Ports FC. I’m banking on Ulinzi to win this military derby and proceed to the next round of the tournament. Go Benja!!! (as in Nyangweso)
