Parents demand arrest of teachers over tuition
PARENTS in Nyanza want Education minister Mutula Kilonzo to arrest teachers who have defied the ban on holiday tuition. Kenyan National Association of Parents Nyanza regional said teachers have commercialised the holiday studies exploiting parents.
Chairman Jackson Omollo Ogweno told the press in Kisumu said the syllabus excuse given by teachers is a sham. “Little children in Early Childhood Education go for tuition too. Thisis unacceptable since children do not get time to rest,” Ogweno said. “Kilonzo should introduce an amendment to the Education Act to legalise the ban on holiday tuition,” he added.
This call comes a few days after Kilonzo banned holiday tuition in both public and private schools. Kilonzo banned holiday tuition in both public and private shools recently.
