MOMBASA-based Mvita XI men’s side are in Nairobi , where they play Kenya Police and Strathmore University in Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) Premier League matches. Mvita, who left Mombasa for Nairobi yesterday, face Kenya Police at City Park this morning before taking on Strathmore tomorrow in key matches. Mvita chairman, Erick Anyango, expressed optimism that his side would reign supreme in the weekend matches.

“We are set for double victory in Nairobi. Our team is as intact as before save for striker Omar Ali, who remains behind for the Idd ul fitr celebrations this weekend,” said Anyango. He said they have been training hard in the past one week in preparation for the battle.

“The fact that we are only two men’s teams from Coast makes whatever match ahead of us crucial. We need to impress our fans and keep them glued to hockey action,” he added. The Mombasa-bade bank hopes to bank on captain Austin Otieno to steer them to victory. Anyango said if the players will display their vibrant game that saw them beat Kenya College of Accountancy 2-1 last weekend then nothing will stop them from winning.
