Court orders children’s home to free three girls
A Nanyuki court has ordered a children’s home in Isiolo to release three girls in its custody to their parents. Senior resident magistrate Caroline Obara yesterday ordered the Isiolo Children’s Home to release Naipari Latono, 8, Naiswaku Lekurtut, 9, andDaali Lewarani, 9, to their parents.
The children’s parent swere ordered to take care of them and ensure they attend school. The One More Day for Children, a children’s rights organisation, had taken Isiolo Children’s Home and the Child Welfare Society of Kenya to court for refusing to release the girls to it. The organisation had taken the girls to the home after they were rescued from early marriages.
