Farmers in lower zones of meru south district have been urged to plant drought resistant crops that can do with little rainfall. Meru South District agricultural officer Nicholas Mokaya said most farmers were more concerned with growing high yielding crops but forgot unreliable rains which always resulted in huge losses.  “People should plant indigenous crops like wheat, millet, sorghum and such like foods if they want to eradicate famine," said Mokaya.
