Court blocks Sakuda from Kajiado North by-election

THE High Court yesterday blocked The National Alliance Party from submitting Moses ole Sakuda as its candidate for the Kajiado North September17 by-election. Justice Alfred Mabeya issued the orders after Francis Parsimei moved to court saying that the party nominations, which were held on August 15, were marred by fraud and the list of registered voters used during the exercise was of 2007.

He said the register was discredited and should not have been used. Sakuda emerged the winner after the exercise and his nomination would have been submitted to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission by August 23. Parsimei said most of the people in the register and who took part during the nomination exercise were not members of TNA.

Through lawyer Rose Mbanya, he said the exercise‘‘was a mockery of electoral process and denied him an opportunity to participate in the electoral and democratic process through blatant contravention of the and the constitution’’.
