AG’s appeal on diaspora voting laws

Attorney General Githu Muigai has called on law professionals to interrogate the Elections (Non-Resident Registration and Voting) Regulations 2012.

The AG said the regulations need the input of ‘all jurists of goodwill’ given the controversy the Diaspora votes has attracted with some quarters alleging a plot by powerful politicians to interfere with the votes. ‘‘There is need for a sound legal framework for a free and fair election,’’Muigai said yesterday.
