Feeling
appreciated is one of the most important needs that people have. More
so when you are starting out in your professional life. It with this
idea, that the Pillar Africa Awards was
conceived last year during The Feather Awards Kenya.

The
brainchild of the CEO of Woodside Africa
Sheida
Mutambi-Mutuku,
it
is
meant to recognise African
female youth with a burning ambition to make a mark not only in their
personal lives, but in the larger society.

The
awards have been revamped this year with a new name with several
categories including
Entrepreneur, Humanitarian, Business Icon
and Arts and Culture and Heritage. The winner of each category will
be going home with recognition, a cool trophy and a cool one million
shillings.

The
award ceremony organisers on Monday hosted a luncheon at the swanky
Karen Country Lodge in Nairobi to call out for entries for the
different categories. In attendance was Atsango Chesoni
formerly with the committee of experts for the constitution, news
anchor Julie Gichuru, Keroche Breweries CEO Tabitha Karanja
and Linda Lockhart Founder and CEO Global Give Back Circle.
The key note address for the event was given by Ketepa CEO Timothy
Chege
.
