My dream is to fly...

Yves Larock's, My dream is to fly lyrics, filled JKIA airport on Friday afternoon as a group of enthralled children waited to fly to Mombasa. However this time they were not singing about imaginary rainbows but in praise of Kenya Airways. "My dream is to fly over the rainbow with KQ....so high....," they sang.

The children all under 10 were from various institutions including  Githunguri Township, Lower Kabete primary school, Kenyatta Hospital Cancer ward and Imani children's home, Kariobangi. They were about to experience their first flight on the new KQ Embraer E190 jet, an initiative sponsored by the airline and Kiss 100's breakfast show.

Accompanied by their teachers and guardians the children got even more excited on seeing Kiss 100's Jalango. They kept calling out his name and teasing him with his signature phrase 'sambamba'(ok).

They all looked  relaxed despite it being the first time for most of them to fly. The maiden trip had the anxious children on the edge of their seats in excitement.

The journey to and fro Mombasa lasted about three hours and although they did not leave the Mombasa airport the children were content with the treat. Back in Nairobi, they  were given back packs loaded with snacks and branded t-shirts to enjoy on their way back home. How grand.
