Kerugoya poison meat suspect detained
A man suspected to have fed his relatives with poisoned meat has been detained for three days for investigations. Gilbert Nguyo did not take plea when he appeared in court and was ordered detained at Kerugoya police station so police can complete investigations. The prosecutor said told the court that there are a few things police wanted to clarify with the suspect.
Chief Magistrate Hanna Ndung’u agreed to the request but advised him to ensure the investigations are completed quickly to avoid complications. Nguyo was charged that he killed a wild animal without licence from the Kenya Wildlife Service and gave the meat to members of his family. Six family members are still being treated at Kerugoya District Hospital after eating the poisoned meat given to them by Nguyo.
