Lifestyle change to improve health
Kenyans
have been implored to embrace healthy living to ward off lifestyle diseases . A
senior official at the Kenya Wildlife Service said increasing
incidences of obesity, high blood pressure, arthritis and other
lifestyle diseases could be attributed
to sedentary lifestyles. Mt Longonot National Park warden Collins Ochieng said there are
numerous outdoor and physical activities that Kenyans can involve in. “Instead
of clubbing, meat roasting and beer consumption which are unhealthy
lifestyle choices, Kenyans and East Africans in general should
appreciate the benefits of nature and sample activities such as hiking,
biking, camping, rock climbing, bird watching or even visit the beach," said Ochineg.
He added that natural features such as Mt Longonot offers superb outdoor
activities for families, organised groups, corporates for team building
activities, camping and other fun and outdoor activities which also
provide health benefits. Mt
Longonot, the 9,000ft high mountain is a perfect venue for outdoor
activities.
Ochieng said groups can organise hikes, team-building activities and
picnics at Hell's Gate National Park, the Mau Escarpment and Mt Suswa.
