THE Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has threatened to take legal action against parties and candidates propagating claims of rigging in the upcoming Ndhiwa by-election. IEBC's Ndhiwa coordinator Maurice Simiyu said the commission's attention has been drawn to claims by certain parties that the by election is going to be rigged.

He said such claims amount to election malpractice if there are no evidence to back them. Simiyu's remarks comes amid claims by TNA and Kanu that ODM is planning to rig the September 17 by-election in three polling centres. “Propaganda during election is an offence. We will take stern action against them if they don’t prodece prove”, said Simiyu.

TNA's secretary general Onyango Oloo and his Kanu counterpart Nick Salat separately accused ODM and the IEBC of planning to rig the election. Ndhiwa police chief Achesa Letabala said the claims are unfounded.
