Police in Voi have launched a manhunt for a man who allegedly stabbed his wife on Sunday. Agnes Gatwiri, a mother of two, is nursing her wounds at the Voi District Hospital. Neighbours said Stanley Kimathi had been quarreling with his wife for the last few weeks. Kimathi is said to have arrived home drunk and began hurling abuses at his wife before stabbing her with a kitchen knife.

Police said Kimathi left his wife lying in a pool of blood. “We heard the wife scream and when we got to the house, we found her lying in a pool of blood,” said a neighbour. Taita deputy police boss Justina Nzivo said police have launched a man hunt for the man. “The suspect stabbed the wife on her back and below her ribs.

We are in hot pursuit of him and soon we shall arrest him,” promised Nzivo. She said that the suspect picked a quarrel with his wife before attacking her with a kitchen knife. “The mother of two is recuperating at the Voi district hospital. We shall record her statement once she is discharged from hospital,” said the deputy police boss. Nzivo said that investigations into the incident have been launched.
