Calm has returned to Tana River with no incidents reported in the last two days. However, the Kenya Red Cross and the Mombasa Blood Center have asked the public to donate blood for those hospitalized after the clashes. The Regional Blood Centre in Mombasa which serves the entire coastal region currently does not have enough blood supply for Tana victims.

120 people have so far died and 5000 displaced since last week following the fighting between Pokomo and Orma communities in the Tana Delta. President Kibaki yesterday ordered the police to end the skirmishes in the region. The President also sacked Livestock Assistant Minister Dhado Godhana who was charged with incitement to violence at a Nairobi court yesterday.
