MRC’s Mraja disowns oathing in Tiribe forest

The Mombasa Republican Council has distanced itself from the 19 suspects arrested in Tiribe while performing an oathing ceremony. The suspects were arrested at the weekend in a police operation on Dzombo and Shimba Hills forests. Speaking to the Star yesterday, MRC spokesman Rashid Mraja  dismissed the claims as a ‘political coy’.

“Some politicians and the government are trying to taint our name. This is a group formed to connect us with crime,” said Mraja. An administration police officer was killed in the forest while trying to arrest the suspects. He said MRC has no intention administering oaths because the group’s "fight is only based on a legal frame work."
