Thika Municipal Stadium will host the fourth leg of the National boxing League in a move aimed at creating awareness among the public. Amateur Boxing Association (ABA) chairman John Kameta said the event has attracted 10 teams. He said for the first time ever in the history of the sport, the event will be held in an open setting, contrary to the traditional indoor in an attempt to raise funds.

Speaking in Mombasa yesterday, Kameta appealed to corporate companies to support them as they strive to make the discipline a household name just like football and athletics. “We are moving from the traditional indoor style, which has in the past attracted 20 or 30 fans to this unique outdoor format of play in a bid to take the sport to the people,” he said.
