Sh4bn for youth peace campaign

Mercy Corps is successfully rolling out the Sh 4 Billion Yes Youth Can project in the Rift Valley region aimed at empowering youth and fostering peace ahead of the 2013 general elections.

Some of the projects initiated by youth in the region with support from Mercy Corps have yielded positive results in areas which were heavily affected by the 2007 ost election violence.

Grace Karanja Chief of Party for the YYC Programme in charge of Central and Rift Valley says the projects started by the targeted youth groups have succeeded in achieving unity of purpose among the youth.

She was speaking at Cheptiret in Eldoret South where youth in the area who benefited  from the Mercy Corps funding handed over a chiefs' office which they refurbished after it was destroyed during the PEV.
