Terror suspect’s father wants son to stand trial

THE father to a terror suspect wants his son to stand trial. 56 year old Jamaldin Yahya is a resident of Kibera and father to Thabit Jamal Di Yahya being held at Coast General Hospital. Thabit is being held on suspicion of his involvement in the planning and execution of the May 15 blast at Bella Vista night club in Mombasa.
“I have come specifically to find out what is happening and also to ensure that my son gets justice. I plead with police for him to be taken to court to go through the justice process.
“If he is guilty, he should be convicted and if he innocent then he should be released,” said Jamaldin at the anti terror police unit offices in Mombasa. “He is 30 years old and mature. We have not been staying together for more than 5 years though he has been on and off from home. As far as I know, he has no criminal record. I can also say he is neither an angel nor a devil,” Jamaldin added.
He added that the son, 30 years old Thabit was married but later left to work in Saudi Arabia and his wife has since remarried. The suspect has a three and a half-year old son.
