Embu rep wants better healthcare
Embu Assembly Deputy Speaker Ibrahim Swale has called for improvement of the health services in the county to save residents the trouble of travelling long distances to seek medical treatment.
Swale, who is also Kirimari ward representative, said that the county cannot reach its development goals if the health sector was in poor state.
He was speaking yesterday during the opening of Kithimu dispensary, called on Governor Martin Wambora to ensure Embu Provincial General Hospital is refurbished and elevated to a referral facility.
He asked the governor to ensure that health centres in the villages are well equipped with medicine. Speaking at the same function, Wambora said his government has set aside money to invest in the county's healthcare system.
Wambora said that all the facilities will have enough medicine and at that the Embu Provincial General Hospital will be equipped the basic equipment.
Manyatta MP John Muchiri said the Parliamentary Committee on Health has resolved to ensure employment of 12,000 new nurses starting next month to cater for under staffing in various health facilities within the country.
