A bar maid found selling beer before the allowed hours has been fined Sh10,000 by a Thika court on her own plea of guilty. Pauline Nyokabi was convicted and fined by senior principal magistrate DN Mulekyo. In default, she would have to serve a three-month sentence. She admitted selling beer at 4pm on June 20 at Kabati centre in Murang’a county. She opened one hour before time to sell beer to a customer. In the same court, seven drivers found speeding on Thika-Nairobi highway were fined a total of Sh14,000 each. The motorists were driving at a speed exceeding 50km/hr. Chief inspector Nancy Muthuri who led the prosecution urged the court to treat the accused as first offenders.
