CJ to open Appeal Court in Malindi
CHIEF Justice Willy Mutunga will today open the Court of Appeal situated at the new ultramodern building in Malindi.
The Court of Appeal will help in reducing the pressure of cases at the only Court of Appeal in Mombasa and speed up clearance of cases.
A Judiciary official from Malindi told the Star the court will be opened despite protests from Mombasa-based lawyers who want it located in Mombasa.
He said the issues will be handled officially and will not affect the official opening in any way.
“The Chief Justice will be here tomorrow (today) to officially open the new court,’’ said the official who sought anonymity.
The building is the first with lifts in the town and the most modern government project.
Authorities are also setting up an internal computer system to help in case management to end the problem of missing files.
