The US Republic was born on July 4, 1776 when
the then 13 American colonies made an unilateral declaration of
independence from the British. Independence Day in the US since then
sees celebrations around the world with
fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals and much more. The official celebrations in Nairobi were hosted at the official residence of the US ambassador Scott Gration. The event on the band.

The
RVA band has a special place in the heart of Ambassador Gration who is
leaving his post in Kenya as he gave his long history of engagement
with Kenya. His parents and the parents of his wife Judy came here in
the 1950s and the two attended the RVA school before heading out of the
country. He returned in the 1980s to help train Kenya Air force
fighter pilots before returning as an ambassador last year.

Guests
were treated to hot dogs, hamburgers and other delicacies. The
diplomatic community, the civil society, the religious community, the
Kenyan government with ministers like Dr Sally Kosgey were in attendance.
