The Municipal Council of Homa Bay has put aside Sh4 million for the upgrade and rehabilitation of major projects in the town. Mayor Charles Katinga said Sh1.35 million will be used to tarmac the road connecting Water Intake- Sofia and Lala Market under the Kenya Urban Roads Authority . Katinga said the proposal has already been approved and the construction work will start soon. He said the road upgrade will improve the transport system in the town and is expected to boost business.

Katinga was addressing the press in his office. The mayor said an additional Sh3 million has been set aside for the rehabilitation of the Homa Bay Municipal Stadium. He said the money will be used to erect an internal fence, construct a volleyball pitch, netball pitch  and football pitch. “The move is aimed at improving the pitch to host more national and even international games in the near future,” said Katinga. Last year when the chairman of Football Kenya Federation, Sam Nyamweya, visited the county, he said he would use his position to push the government, through the Ministry of Sports, to set aside funds for the project.
