Teso mortuary set to be ready for use by Tuesday

Construction of the first mortuary facility in Teso will be complete on Tuesday next week. Council chairman Romanus Orengo said they will privatise the facility to enable it offer exemplary service to residents of Teso, Busia, Bungoma and Eastern Uganda. Orengo said residents of Teso had to transport bodies to mortuaries in Busia or Bungoma. He said the council spent Sh13 million to put up the facility.

The facility is situated adjacent to Kocholia District Hospital in Teso North district. Former council chairman Moses Ote lauded the constrution of the facility. The Angurai South Ward civic leader said the council should purchase a stand-by generator, drill a borehole and construct a perimeter fence. Busia District Hospital CEO Dr Janerose Ambuchi lauded the county for the initiative. Kocholia District Hospital board chairman, Patrick Oliwa, said the move by Teso Council to avail mortuary facilities next to the hospital was a step forward. Oliwa said the hospital had lacked facilities for long, adding that they will work closely with the Mortuary administration to bring services closer to the people.
