Oginga Odinga University to host second AK meeting

Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University, Bondo will host the second Athletics Kenya/National Bank track and field weekend meeting. AK Nyanza North region public relations officer, Jared Gilo, said the weekend meeting will be held on March 22 and 23. The meet was initially planned for March 16 and 17.

He said preparations for the meeting have started and gave facilities at the institution a clean bill.

“The facilities at the university are upto standard to host the weekend meeting having hosted the same last year,” added Gilo. The official said several renowned athletes are expected to grace the event.

“Last year, we had the likes of Asbel Kiprop in Bondo and we expect more top stars this year,” he added. He said more than 500 athletes from Kenya Police, Prisons, Defence Forces, colleges, schools and individuals will attend the event. Gilo said athletes will be accommodated at the university and hotels in Bondo town. The first meeting will be held this weekend at Moi International Sports Center, Kasarani.
