South Africa-based Kenyan Adongo quits Bulls
South Africa-based Kenyan forward Daniel Adongo has been released from his contract after just six months at the Blue Bulls. Adongo, 23, is set to join New Zealand Province County side, Manakau after failing to break into the Bulls set-up. Adongo becomes the second high-profile youngster to leave the Bulls after former South Africa schools and under-20 captain CJ Stander signed for Munster a few weeks ago. Adongo was recruited by the current Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer when he was the Bulls director.
After scoring his hat-trick in his opening game, Adongo relegated to the bench of the Vodacom Cup team before being sent to Varsity Cup champions Tuks to get game time. Desperate to play, Adongo returned to Nairobi in June to play for the Elgon Warriors against the touring English County team and his performance attracted former All Blacks’ Tana Umaga, who offered him a two-year contract at Manakau.
