DC angered by VP's relief food claims

Wednesday, February 27, 2013 - 00:00 -- BY ANITA MUNYITHYA

THE Makindu DC who has been accused by Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka of using relief food to mobilise residents to snub a recent Cord campaign meeting has denied the claims.

Naomi Mwangi said she spent the day in office, contrary to Kalonzo's claims. Speaking on phone, Mwangi said the VP’s statement had disappointed her because the last batch of 300 sacks of relief food was distributed to primary school heads on February 8, a week before Cord’s Makueni campaigns.

“The VP’s statement was uncalled for and very disappointing. How could he drag my name into dirty campaigns when the last batch of relief food was distributed to primary school teachers on February 8,” Mwangi asked.

She said she has not campaigned for any political coalition and asked the VP to deal with the people Cord had hired to mobilise crowds in Makindu.
