3 injured as Likoni building collapses

Three people, two of them minors, were yesterday seriously injured after a one story building collapsed in Majengo Mapya, Likoni district. Likoni OCPD Abagamaro Guyo said two toddlers aged one and two were injured. A worker who was working on the collapsed building sustained leg and head injuries. Guyo said police had received reports about the shaky building and had cautioned the residents against occupying the building that was still under construction. “We had given instruction to the occupants about the status of the building.

The materials used were not upto standards, the thickness of the wall was slim and you did not need an expert to tell you the building would collapses,” Guyo said. Information also indicated that the building was leaking. He said the injured were rushed to a nearby local hospital for treatment. The mother of the two children Sauda Rashid said the building collapsed yesterday at 10 am.
