PRIME Minister Raila Odinga’s sister, Ruth, is using the title of 'deputy governor'.This is despite the fact that the general election has not been held yet.

Celebrating Valentine's Day a day late with pupils at Shiners Centre in Kisumu town on Thursday, Ruth introduced herself to the pupils and staff as "the Kisumu County Deputy Governor and Raila's sister".

She signed the visitors’ book 'Deputy Governor Kisumu County'.

Ruth, her friend Catherine Okello Odoyo and the institution’s director Caroline Ogot distributed food to the pupils, most of whom are orphans.

“This is my first gesture during Valentine's Day and I promise to continue with the same spirit to ensure we give back to the society,” the PM’s sister said.

She promised to continue helping the less fortunate once in office.

Ruth had been controversially declared the winner of the ODM Kisumu county nominations for governor, sparking protests that led to her stepping down.

However, her supporters maintained that her challenger Jack Ranguma who was later handed the ODM certificate was behind the protests.
