Ali Hassan Joho has been cleared to vie for the Mombasa governor race . Joho has dismissed claims that he did not meet the academic qualification to vie for the seat.
A voter has moved to court in Mombasa to challenge Joho's nomination on the grounds that his academic qualifications are questionable.
Janet Ndago says Joho and his running mate Hazel Katana are not holders of valid degrees from universities recognised in Kenya as required of candidates vying for specified electoral positions.
Ndago, a registered voter in Likoni constituency, claims the two are using “unorthodox and fraudulent means" to pretend that they are holders of degrees from universities recognised in Kenya recognised in Kenya when they are not.
