TWO police officers yesterday restrained an angry mob from attacking the returning officer for the Wiper party nominations in the Mwingi Central.

Baying for the blood of the returning officer  Princilla Makundi, the stone-throwing mob allied to losing aspirant Solomon Muvinga pelted the Mwingi Wiper hall with stones as the tallying of votes was going on.

The incident took place at around 2pm yesterday as Muvinga was involved a meeting inside the hall. The angry youth who were unhappy that Muvinga had lost the nomination attempted to force their way in to hall but were stopped by police guarding the venue. The security men had to physically protect Makundi  from the youth as they tried  to pounce on her when she appeared at the entrance.

But as the rowdy group exchanged bitter words with the policemen, reinforcement arrived under the command of the Mwingi OCS Jonathan Wafula making the group to retreat. Muvinga told reporters that the group was bitter that he was unjustifiable denied victory.

Makundi said the rowdy youth action was not vindicated as she had announced the result  in braod day light and  candidate parliamentary seat including the nomination winner Joe Mutambu were present.
