The two, Alex Njue Kaimuti and George Mwaniki Kauma, appreared before senior Resident Magistrate Dick Ochora who remanded at the Embu police station for a week to give CID officers time to complete their investigations into how they were involved in the robbery.

Prosecutor Frank Mnene applied for their confinement at the station and denial of bond noting that the two were arrested on Wednesday and were presented in court just to beat the 24 hour rule of presenting suspect to court after arrest.

They were charged that on January 14 this year at Ugweri village in Runyenjes town they violently robbed Robert Kinyua Njoka of sh70,000 while being armed with a gun and other crude weapons.

They denied the charge before the magistrate ordered that they be remanded and supplied with copies of prosecution witnesses’ statements after paying for their processing.

The magistrate directed that the suspects be returned to court on January 22 to find how far the CID will have gone with their investigations before the court could give further orders. He further fixed hearing of the case for February 22 this year in
court number 3.
