Deputy Speaker praises security plans in North Eastern
Northeastern politicians have commended the Government for the steps it has taken in improving the security of the region. Deputy speaker Farah Maalim who is also the Lagdera MP termed the steps taken by the governmnt as “bold and far reaching”. Maalim was addressing the press at the provincial police headquarters in garissa after paying a courtesy call to the new PPO Philip Tuimur and his deputy Noor Gabow Maalim.
He asked the residents to remain patient “as the new officers get down to business.” “We have confident with the new team of security officers who have just taken office, if we pull our efforts together then we will be in a position to fight this criminal gangs like Al shabaab decisively,”he added.
He said that the al shabaab militia is an enemy of all kenyans and should be fought by everybody. “This people have clearly shown that their sole aim is to kill and injure innocent people irrespective of the religion,we should do everything that we can to ensure that such elements even those hiding within our midst are crashed,” added Maalim.
19 victims of the Garissa attack are still admitted in Garissa and Kenyatta hospitals. The number of the security personnel manning the churches in Garissa has been increased following the grenade attack two weeks ago.
