A multi-agency team has rescued 316 people marooned by floods in Baringo county

In the Longeiwan area, Baringo South, 215 people among them 127 adults and 88 children were rescued.

Kenya Red Cross said the operation brought together a multi-agency team including them, county government, Savage Wilderness and Community members.

"Efforts to reach other villages in the same sub-county, such as Rine, Ilpunyaki and Leswaa continue," Kenya Red Cross said.

Earlier, the Multi-agency team rescued 101 people in Eldume, Baringo South Sub County.

They included  43 adults and 58 children.

The group was evacuated to safety after being marooned by floodwaters.

Several parts of the country have continued to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall.

This has rendered several families displaced and roads impassable making it difficult to evacuate families to safety and even distribute food supplies.
