Marsabit Governor Mohamud Ali arrested

The arrest followed a raid at his home in Nairobi and Marsabit county.

Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission have arrested Marsabit Governor Mohamud Ali.

EACC spokesman Eric Ngubi has confirmed the arrest.

The arrest came after his predecessor and Former Treasury CS Ukur Yatani was taken into EACC custody.

Ngubi said the two were arrested in relation to an investigation into claims of unaccounted funds in the county government of Marsabit.

Yatani served as Marsabit Governor between 2013 to 2017 and was appointed CS by Former President Uhuru Kenyatta after losing the gubernatorial to Governor Mohamud.

The arrest of the two comes after the EACC detectives raided their homes in Marsabit and Nairobi Wednesday morning.

Yatani arrived at the EACC offices minutes past noon in the company of Azimio principal and DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa.

Siaya Governor James Orengo and Rarieda MP Otiende Amolo are also at the Integrity Centre.
