Webuye family appeals for Sh3m for son’s kidney transplant

Say they have sold everything with hopes that one day their son would get treatment.

A family in Furoi village, Webuye East constituency, Bungoma county, is appealing to well-wishers to intervene and help them raise Sh3 million to aid their son Henry Karani undergo kidney transplant in India.

Speaking to the Star at their Webuye home, Karani said he was shocked after he was informed by his doctor that he was battling kidney failure after a long illness.

He said that he has been admitted to several hospitals in Bungoma but has not received proper treatment to his kidney failure problem. 

Karani's family said they have sold everything with the hopes that one day their son would get treatment.

“I have been at Lugulu hospital, Webuye County Hospital, Kijabe hospital in Nairobi then LifeCare Hospitals in Bungoma, but I have not received medication, my doctor at LifeCare referred me to India for advanced medical attention,” Karani said.

He is now calling on Bungoma leaders to help him raise money to cater for his travel and treatment in India.

“For now I don’t have anything to sell to raise money to facilitate my travel and hospital bills in India, that is why I am humbly requesting well-wishers to help me raise the cash,” he said.

“We have tried every means, even leasing sugarcane plantations with hopes that one day we shall get cash to help our brother be airlifted to India to get treatment,” Karani's brother, Samson Karani, said.

Samson said his brother's National Health Insurance Fund card is depleted and cannot cater for treatment anymore.
