- The President noted that the government is setting up ICT hubs in every ward.
- He added that the move will equip youth with the necessary digital skills to tap into online opportunities.
President William Ruto on Wednesday opened the Digital Hub in Bidii Ward, Kwanza Sub-County, Kitale, Transnzoia County.
The President was accompanied by ICT CS Eliud Owalo among other leaders.
Ruto said the government is deliberately implementing programmes and policies that will create jobs for the youth.
The President noted that the government is setting up ICT hubs in every ward to equip youth with the necessary digital skills to tap into online opportunities.
He said the digital hubs have already enabled 119,000 youth to access digital jobs.
"We urge those who have undergone training in these hubs to mentor others so that we can reach as many youth as possible," he said.
CS Owalo said the growing number of youth involved in Digital Jobs courtesy of the Kenya Kwanza government’s Jitume Digital Skilling programme is amazing.
"As we now embark on rolling out the 1450 Digital Hubs spread evenly all over the Country at the Ward Level, we are confident that a sustainable solution to our high youth unemployment levels is at long last within reach," he said.
Other leaders present included health CS Susan Nakhumicha, lands CS Zachariah Njeru, ICT PS John Tanui, Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya and Senator Allan Chesang, among other leaders.
