Three suspects have been arrested on allegations of defrauding two directors of a Nairobi-based company of Sh15 million.
Jackson Mwondi, David Nabiri, and Geoffrey Odhiambo reportedly promised the directors a direct tender of Sh230 million.
DCI boss George Kinoti said the three
approached the said directors sometime in July 2018 in the pretext of awarding them an ICT ministry tender.
The items are 1,797 laptops, two computer softwares and other computer accessories.
After negotiating, they agreed with the suspects that since the tender was valued at Sh230 million, a commission of Sh15 million was to be paid.
The DCI reports that Sh7.5 million was given to Nabiri in cash and Sh8 million transferred to Mwondi’s account.
After the payment was done, the four suspects disappeared and it was then that the directors later learnt that they had been conned.
Kinoti warned members of the public against engaging in such fraudulent activities.
"Detectives have already commenced investigations with the aim of bringing the culprits to book," Kinoti added.
Last month, four suspects
were arrested after presenting fake documents to a complainant whom they had promised to award a tender worth Sh65 million.
The four men promised
to award the tender to the victim for construction of an administration block for a school in
Sultan Hamud.
They were Joel Owuor (Komarock), Edward Mutuku (Uthiru), George Kasasi(Kayole), and Moses Ikiungu (Ruai).
