Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission on Thursday raided Makueni county government offices.
The sleuths took away documents from the county secretary and Lands executive's offices in what sources attributed to audit queries.
Last week, EACC officials summoned a number of county government officers to Machakos for questioning.
Regional boss Susan Kinyeki confirmed the raid but remained tight-lipped on the mission.
"Its too early to divulge any information. No arrests were made," she said.
"They were there to verify documents we presented to them. There is nothing big. The case will be closed," a source said.
