City residents will go without water for the better part of Thursday evening as the Ng'ethu treatment plant is shut for repairs.

The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company said the shutdown was occasioned by the breakdown of a major control valve at Gigiri reservoir.

"The repairs are expected to be completed by midnight and normal water supply will resume by August 17 at 6am," NWSC

communications director

Mbaruk Vyakweli said.

Areas to be affected include the whole of City Centre, JKIA, EPZ-Athi River and the whole of Industrial Area.

Residents in Eastlands estates including those along Jogoo Road, Outer-Ring Road, Baba Dogo, Dandora, Umoja, Donholm, Embakassi, Kangundo Road and Ruai will also be affected.

Vyakweli said the shut-down will also cut supply to estates along Langata Road, Thika road, Limuru Road, Parklands, Gigiri, and Muthaiga.

Other areas include Karen, Mountain View, Naivasha Road, Kangemi, Satellite, Kawangware, Waithaka and the surrounding areas.

The company said all efforts were being made to ensure supply is restored promptly.

"We request all customers in the affected areas to use their stored water sparingly during the period of interruption," Vyakweli

said.
