ODM has warned Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori and Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa over their recent utterances and public outbursts against the party and its leadership.

The party, in July 24 showcause letters, gave the two legislators seven days to respond to the matter, "failure to which action will be taken against them without any further correspondence."

Chairman John Mbadi accused the two Coastal leaders of their continued violation of the Political Parties Act and the ODM Constitution.

He said their utterances and conduct is incompatible with the leadership positions for which they were elected on an ODM ticket.

Aisha is accused of making unsubstantiated claims amounting to gross misconduct and disrespect to the party leader Raila Odinga and the party.

"You are quoted by several outlets as uttering the following words: 'people should not attack me, they should attack Raila Odinga who forgot all the efforts that the opposition had in store for Kenya and supported the Jubilee Administration'," read part of the letter.

The party also claimed that the MP denounced her contract with ODM, the party through which she sailed to Parliament in the August 2017 vote.

The letter signals that ODM has started going after those who have rebelled against it by realigning themselves with rival parties.

In March, Aisha openly declared her support for Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.

"I will support Ruto. It’s my right. Nobody can gag me," she said after the party threatened to oust her from the Parliamentary Service Commission.

More on this:

Jumwa insisted that she had delivered in ODM and had every right to support whoever she chooses.

The former ODM

die-hard campaigner also claimed that the era of being in opposition was over, earning herself the nickname 'mama radar' after joining Ruto's camp.

Dori, on the other hand, has been accused of declaring in public forums that Raila and ODM betrayed the Coastal people.

"You have been quoted by several media houses as declaring in public forums that the Coastal people have been betrayed by Raila Odinga and ODM and should look elsewhere to realise some development," the letter said.

Mbadi claimed the Msambweni MP had also said he regretted campaigning for Raila and NASA.

The MP resigned as ODM deputy national organising secretary in June after declaring his support for Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.

"I have been in opposition for over 20 years but still my constituency benefited from construction of at least 10 roads. A friend in need is a friend in deed. There is no need to waste time but support Ruto," he said.

Mbadi said Aisha and Dori snubbed ODM Parliamentary Group meetings on the months of March and July.

"These pronouncements are tantamount to termination of their membership from the ODM," he said.
