Robbers who stayed in a home of a Matuu businessman and stole household goods worth Sh650,000 were jailed for five and three years by a Kithimani court.

Jacob Mutinda Kilonzo, Kelvin Mutie Mutunga and Solomon Mutuku were convicted when they appeared before Kithimani principal magistrate Gilbert Shikwe.

The magistrate sent them behind bars without an option of a fine after they were found guilty of handling stolen goods in Matuu town after the March 10 incident.

Kelvin will serve 5 years in jail while Solomon and Jacob will serve 3 years in prison each.

The former was given a higher term after he failed to convince the court how he was found in possession of stolen goods.

The three were part of a gang that were found staying at businessman Michael Matheka's home. Matheka had gone for a journey in Makueni with his entire family.

Neigbours sounded an alarm after they saw some young men carrying household goods from the house every evening.

They were arrested and charged with the offence.
