Highway secondary school in Nairobi's South B estate was closed indefinitely after a fire in one of the dormitories on Sunday.

The fire started on the first floor of the dormitory but was put out by students and teachers.

Red Cross said twelve students were rushed to hospital following the incident.

The cause of fire, which followed in the wake of many others that have affected over 47 schools countrywide, is yet to be established.

KNH checked the students for smoke inhalation and minor tissue injuries, Red Cross said.
