Joseph Boinnet has asked all county commanders to tighten security as Kenyans watch the World Cup.
The IG said this in a statement on Sunday following the killing of a
Kemri researcher in Kisumu on Friday night.
Peter Odada died at Aga Khan Hospital after a shooting at New Rainbow restaurant situated along Kisumu-Busia road.

Boinnet told the commanders to increase
surveillance at entertainment joints and search patrons before letting them in.
"The measures are aimed at ensuring football fans are protected from security risks that include terrorism," he said.
He asked the public to cooperate with police.
After the Kisumu incident,
Regional Police Commander Leonard Katana said security wouldbe beffed up at places where football fans are watching the international football tournament.
