EACC officials have arrested two traffic police officers caught taking bribes from PSV drivers along Machakos-Wote road.

Paul Mbolei and Bernard Kamau

were caught in the act on Friday

near Mukuyuni market in Kaiti sub-county.

Susan Kinyeki, the commission's Lower East Director, said they were whisked away after people started gathering.

"We moved them to establish how much they had collected," Kinyek said by phone and gave Sh3,000 as the figure.

"We had issued treated currency to passengers in public service vehicles," she said.

The officers

were locked up at Kola police station for investigations.

An EACC survey yesterday named the Interior ministry — especially the Police Service and Traffic Department — as the most corrupt.
