There is nothing wrong with backing Machakos
Governor
Alfred Mutua's bid for the presidency come 2022, Bureti MP Japheth Mutai has said.
Mutai said Mutua is capable of capturing the presidency should his bid be taken seriously.
"It is too early and difficult to predict the outcome in 2022 but Mutua is fit and capable," he said.
He spoke at at Kapsogo market in Kabarnet on Saturday
during the homecoming ceremony for Baringo Central MP Joshua Kandie who was elected on a Maendeleo Chap Chap ticket.

Mutua, his Baringo and Elgeyo Marakwet counterparts Stanley Kiptis and Alex Tolgos, Senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen (Elgeyo Marakwet) and tens of Rift Valley MPs attended the function.
Mutai asked Mutua to also hold talks with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Nasa leader Raila Odinga and the President took an unexpected turn when they reached a unity deal after talks at Harambee House on March 9.
Raila's co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang'ula (Ford Kenya) also want to meet the Jubilee Party boss.
Mutai noted the goals are
peace and development.
In his address, Mutua affirmed his commitment to vying in the next presidential election saying he was working closely with
Baringo Senator Gideon
Moi (Kanu party chairman) for a coalition.
"In Machakos I was hated for standing with Uhuru and Ruto. My rivals fought me but I declared before them that I was not a coward or a water melon and that I would support UhuRuto's re-election," he said.
"I want to make known that in 2022 I will meet all the others on the ballot. We are in discussions with Gideon and can confidently say mbele Iko sawa".
Raila's talks with Uhuru have resulted in uncertainty about DP William Ruto's State House ambition - he is expected to take over from Uhuru when his second and final term ends.
MPs Moses Lesonet (Eldama Ravin), William Kamket (Tiaty), Antony Chepkut (Keiyo South), Joshua Kutuny (Cherengany), William Cheptumo (Baringo north), Daniel Tuitoek (Mogotio), Philip Chepkut (Anabkoi) and Baringo woman representative Gladwell Tungo among the MPs present.
