Joe Muganda was on Monday appointed Vivo Energy managing director following the exit of Polycarp Igathe who is currently Nairobi deputy governor.
Muganda's appointment was announced by David Mureithi, the Vivo Energy East and South Region executive vice president.
Having successfully resigned from Nation Media Group, he will assume the role effective February 1, 2018.
"I am delighted to welcome Mr Muganda as the new managing director Vivo Energy Kenya. When he joins in February, his vast experience will bring added value...allowing the company to build on its previous successes, as he steers the company to meet its ambitious goals," Mureithi said in a statement.
Before joining Nation in 2015, the new Vivo MD was at the helm of Kenya Breweries Ltd.
He also served in different capacities at the British American Tobacco (BAT) including the role of general manager for the Southern Africa Markets, head of corporate affairs, regional manager – Africa and Middle East, and also presided over senior marketing and brand roles.
Before BAT, Muganda worked in Barclays Bank and Unilever. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Accounting and Financial Management from the University of Buckingham and an MBA from the University of Leicester, UK.
A statement by NMG stated that Stephen Gitagama, the finance director, will serve in an acting capacity as the board looks for Muganda's substantive replacement.
