General Hospital has opened the biggest cancer centre in Mombasa with the capacity for three million patients a year.
Chief administrator Iqbal Khadwallah noted the facility will ease congestion and improve treatment as it is
for patients in the county and other areas.
Khadwallah said the number of cancer patients treated at the hospital every year
had increased from 1,200 to 3,000.
"We get 80 to 100 new patients every month,"
he added at the launch on Thursday.

But the hospital does not have a radiotherapy unit so patients travel to Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi.
Shadrack Ingo, a cancer survivor, raised the matter of expensive medicine.
"The medicines are too expensive. They should either be accessed for free or be affordable."
According to a World Health Organisation report, cancer kills 8.8 million people globally per year.
