NASA co-principal Moses Wetang'ula has maintained nothing will stop the coalition from holding its planned rally at Jacaranda grounds on Tuesday.

The Bungoma Senator downplayed orders by police who have declared the meeting, set for the same day as President Uhuru Kenyatta's inauguration, is illegal.

"The meeting will be a prayer service for those who have been felled by police following demonstrations during Raila Odinga's return," Wetang’ula said.

"We will neither relent nor be intimidated by the police ban. The meeting will go on as part of our push for electoral reforms."

Wetang'ula, who is Bungoma Senator, said they do not believe in Uhuru's win and "cannot support a leader who has been chosen through the back door".

He said it was wrong for people to queue during voting only for the tally to be manipulated by the system.

"We need every vote to count and that means reforms must be implemented," the legislator said during a funeral in the county on Sunday.

Wetang'ula further asked police to deal with a machete-wielding gang which has been terrorising Bungoma residents for the past two weeks.

He said it was unfortunate that two people were killed yet no action has been taken against the perpetrators.

"We need our security apparatus to be alert and stop this gang that has been attacking our people," the Ford Kenya leader said.

"We know those involved are living among us. Chiefs and their assistants need to work extra-hard and weed them out."
