A bus driver was killed and 10 passengers injured in yet another accident at the Salgaa black spot on Friday morning.

The bus heading to Nairobi collided with a trailer near Nakuru Teachers Training College along Eldoret-Nairobi highway.

"The driver of the Scania bus tried to overtake the trailer but collided with it and then landed in a ditch," said Rongai OCPD Joseph Kioko.

The man, a 39-year-old Tanzanian, died at the scene while those injured were treated at Nakuru Level 5 Hospital and discharged.

The body was taken to Nakuru county mortuary and the wreckage towed to Salgaa police post.

Kioko said an investigation will establish the cause of the accident.

The accident occurred four days after 12 people died in the same area. This happened on Sunday morning after a Great Rift Valley shuttle collided head-on with a trailer and hit a cow.

Kioko said all the people died at the scene of the accident.

The OCPD noted erecting road signs and bumps from Sachangwan to Sobea will improve safety.

"This is a very clear stretch. The problem is that drivers lack discipline and the law is not enforced strictly," he said.

"The area needs 24-hour surveillance by police who should impose heavy penalties on reckless motorists."

The National Transport and Safety Authority dispatched police and a vehicle with speed cameras to the location last year.
